Funeral Factoids

Last week we had a Chamber Coffee hosted by Boman Funeral Homes.  A quiz was given, answers were turned in and this week the winner was announced.  Mary Lou Gordon answered most of the questions correctly and won $25 in Webster City Bucks.  I’d like to share a few of those questions and answers with…

Kickstarter, Grenades and WTF

Kickstarter is this site where inventors can raise money to back their projects.  It’s a real grassroots kind of thing, and those of us in small towns are very familiar with grass roots fundraising.  People will give if it’s a worthwhile project.  Lots of things get done when local, small town people put their mind…

Tour of Empty Buildings

There’s a few empty store fronts and locations around town.  I’d like to see them filled.  So we came up with an idea for a tour. First I went and visited with Brian Stroner at the GIS office.  He made a map for me that showed every location along 2nd Street and who owns.  He…

Webster City – I Like It, A lot

I was made for this job. It started in October of 2008.  I had been laid off from a merchandising/recruiting job I did at home.  I made the decision to learn just what social media was.  I dove into Twitter and Facebook.  I followed and friended people who knew what social media was.  I listened,…
