Drew McLellan is a friend and a pretty smart guy. He’s been on the journey to better health and looks fabulous. I asked him what he’s doing.
He said “I get my 10,000 steps in and eat half the food I order.”
Yes, he’s trying to eat better. But Drew travels for work all the time. Lots of times eating better doesn’t happen. But you can always eat half of what you order. I was in Sioux Falls this week for work and I tried Drew’s approach. First of all, there was a lot of pasta served in the meals. I am trying to stay away from so many carbs, so eating less was pretty easy to begin with. I had breakfast in the room one morning and ordered blueberry pancakes. I ate 1/2 of them. I also ordered berries. Blueberries and strawberries – and they were scrumptious! I ate them all. lol
The 10,000 steps was a bigger challenge. My current goal is 4,000 steps each day by the end of May. I did hit my goal each day. I didn’t have my bike, and I really missed it! There’s joy in riding with the wind blowing in your face. When I got home I rode and went just a little farther, and the one hill was just a little easier. I’m working on getting more familiar with using the gears properly.
I am holding my own at the same weight as when I left – and that’s a victory in my book!
That’s a Zombie Killer from JL Beers — ale, gluten free with peach and cherry. It was awesome. I drank half of it.
great advice Deb,
Keep moving, after crossing the fifty mark a few years ago that became a challenge, naps became my norm. Today I am moving more and more each day. Most days I get 5-7k steps, some days over 10k, but for sure it has helped me to Keep Moving!
Wishing you the best of luck!
Thanks Eric – hey, I’ll be in Tucson in January, any chance we can meet IRL?
