Sunday Update: Water

This week my focus has been on consuming 72 ounces of water.  I met with my dietitian and the first thing she said was to consume more water.  (She said more than that, but I’ll update next week on what she suggests.)

It’s more than you think.  It’s also doable.  By today I’m consuming 72 ounces of water.  I won a bid on a lunch box and water container by Avex at the St. Thomas Ball – and the water container holds 24 ounces.  Three of those and I’ve hit my water consumption.  This week i’ll work on drinking 4 of them.  For me, the secret is to have it all consumed by 7 pm, otherwise I’m up and down all night in the bathroom!

So why drink more water? The big three for me are:

  1. Dehydration makes your heart work harder to get enough oxygen to your muscles.
  2. It slows down the aging process.
  3. It stops cravings and hunger pains.

On average it takes about 66 days to make a practice a habit.  I know you’ve heard it takes 21 days.  According to James Clear, the real truth is it takes a MINIMUM of 21 days.  So for the next two months and a few days I’ll work on getting 96 ounces of water consumed before 7 pm.  Stay tuned on that venture! water

I’ve started drinking water, and am already realizing how good it is for me! Circulation is better, ankles don’t hurt any more, and it just may be my brain is clearer! Still drinking, still on this journey. Thanks for an encouraging article.

Great advice and I agree the benefits are fabulous but I struggle to make it a habit. 🙁
