I’m sitting at the Charlotte airport with a 4 hour layover. My great nephew Steven and I are returning from vacation on Holiday Island. The house we stayed in was right on the Albemarle Sound. There’s an advantage in staying in a house instead of a hotel. You can cook your own food. We ate eggs for breakfast and had grapes and watermelon available also. Dessert was Italian ice. Did we eat out? Yes, one day we have all you can eat crab legs for lunch! I ate 24 crab legs. It was the most sinfully pleasant treat I’ve had in ages. I don’t feel guilty about it either. Sometimes you have to treat yourself. Yes, I did eat some things that are not particularly good for you – a candy bar, kettle corn and a diet soda. But mostly, I took my vitamins, ate well and enjoyed the company.
I played in the sound and did core exercises on the dock. We walked around Edenton one afternoon. At the airport I had to run from check in to the gate in order to get an earlier flight. Let me repeat — I ran. And I didn’t die, fall down or cry. Okay, it was a trot. It was NOT my usual speed! When we got here to Charlotte we had to literally walk across and around the airport to get to the right gate. Carry 20 pounds in one bag and pulling another 40 in another bag. All good. Not even winded. The working out is working.
We drove an hour and a half to go to Nags Head on the Outer Banks. You can see some pictures from that day here. The Albemarle Sound is freshwater. We found out that we really need the ocean and salt water. Salter water cures everything. Next year, we’ll find a beach house right on the water. I’ll be in even better shape and running on the beach!
Furrealz? That’s malsuloevry good to know.
