The way I figure it I have a good 20 years left to be productive. It’s a bit sobering to think about. Normally I wouldn’t let that stop me, much. This week has been one of contemplation. My former husband has been diagnosed with cancer and it’s what kicked off all this thinking and wondering and more thinking.
My friend Becky has encouraged me for years to write a well rounded life list and to look at it often. She said to make sure I align how I live with the things on that list. I wrote a list in 2013, and frankly, I haven’t looked at it much since I wrote it. Until this week. Here’s what I had on that list:
Increasing my physical wellness
spending time with my mom and my family
becoming financially sound
exploring my misfitness
I’m happy to say I spent a lot of time with my mom. I didn’t know it then, but it was the most important thing on the list and it has changed my life. My life is so much better because I got to spend time with my precious mom. Everything else on that list is pretty vague. I could say I did all those things, and I did, but there was no real call to action for me – just mention of things I was already doing. So until I turn 61 on June 1 I’ll be re-writing this list and being a lot more specific.
Today I can tell you one thing for sure. I started working out with Leah Feltz again from Leah Feltz Fitness. On Saturday was my first training, and we worked for 1/2 hour. I didn’t want to, I was in the middle of a bad gout attack, but I went anyway. Leah worked around the gout and I’m glad I went. We will work out at least once a week and the goal is to teach me things using the tools I have on hand so I can work out at home the rest of the week. My first goal with Leah is to be able walk for 10 days in Portugal in November. That’s right, I’m going to the Web Summit in Portugal and want to be comfortable walking all over Lisbon while on vacation!
