Des Moines 140 Character Conference Needs Speakers

May 9 there’s going to be a 140 Character Conference at the Stoner Theatre in the Civic Center, downtown Des Moines.

We need speakers.  Simply go to and find the Speaker Link on the left – fill out the form.

What are we looking for in a speaker?

The key to being selected to speak at #140Conf is to submit a speaking proposal which shares your passion about a topic and how it has been touched by the real-time web. Our goal is to bring together a curated group of individuals to both lead and contribute to the discussions. The take-aways from this event will provide the attending delegates knowledge, perspectives and insights into the next wave of effects that the real-time Internet will have on their work and personal lives.

You might want to visit this blip tv link and watch a few other previous speakers.  I’m there!  Look for Kevin Honeycutt and Becky McCray and the Kansas State Fair for starters.

What is the 140 Character Conference and why should we care in Iowa?

Now is your opportunity to be fairly represented on a large stage.  The speakers will talk about topics relative to Iowa lives.  Agriculture will be more than just one speaker representing all sides of the topic.  Hear from the agricultural producers, small business and the large corporate businesses.  Imagine that! Business speakers will cover how we build relationships in a town where everyone either knows you or someone related to you.  There will be small business, large business and home business people showing us all the power of Iowa living as related to owning and/or working in a business.

Tickets will go on sale this week and are being handled by the Stoner Theatre and TicketMaster.  Early bird pricing is $40 and that price is good until April 1.  We’re also going to be giving away a few tickets … stayed tuned!

Hi Deb… We have in common the fact that we’re both picked up by the DSM Register. Say…you need a speaker(s) for your conference? Be happy to help out. Let’s connect for more info?? – Michael

    Michael –
Would love to have a conversation! You come highly recommended by Pat Palmer, The Computer Guy, here in Hampton. Have you filled out a speaker form? It’s at – start there and then I’ll contact you!

Apologies to non-Deb readers of this comment…

Deb – your time away from “civilization” sounds like it has been restorative & productive. (That sometimes is a hard combo to achieve!)

I really like your “connector” idea. That’s a little along the lines of what I’m thinking. (Details in a few days – or maybe later today – if I finish the greenergrassmedia website to the level I hope to – for today.)
