Friday night I attended a fundraiser for American Cancer Society in Mason City, Iowa. I met a young man who told me the story of his friend who owned a Mexican restaurant. He was having trouble hiring people to wait tables. No luck with the local papers. Finally, he posted the position on Facebook. Within 5 days he had hired 4 wait staff.
Great story, right? Except it was a third hand story. Could I believe it? It smacked of urban myth.
Today, I was having a conversation with my friend Erin. She manages the building she lives in in Chicago. Normally, she’d post open apartments on CraigsList. Lately, she’s received only spam responses. Frustrating! I suggested she post it on Facebook.
She did. Within two hours she had a response! From a serious young man with good credit. It looks like she has a renter.
