Cornerstone Cottage Kids is a local business in Hampton, Iowa.  They cater to parents of children and provide toys, books, clothing and all with an educational bent and a lot of fun.  This weekend they were very serious.  We are honored to have this guest post. 

Kony 2012 Hampton Iowa Memorial Day Weekend Action

Joseph Kony is an African warlord who systematically kidnaps children and kills their parents. The children are enslaved. The boys are forced into his guerrilla group, The Lord’s Resistance Army. The girls are raped and murdered or prostituted. Girls kidnapped by Joseph Kony and his slave army have been trafficked and found in England, Germany and other countries.

Joseph Kony has kidnapped more than 30,000 children. And you probably have never heard of him. When I last Googled “Africa child slavery” his name didn’t even show up on the first page of results. Kony 2012 is a grassroots movement to make Joseph Kony as famous as a rock star. And to use that fame (or infamy) to stop him.

In Hampton Iowa, Cornerstone Cottage Kids plastered pictures of kids on the old Dollar General Store. We covered the store’s front windows with 300 pages of drawings of 100 children each, to illustrate just how many children 30,000 is. Yes, we have permission from the building owner to take this action.
