Small Biz Friday: Pamela Warwick

I know it’s Monday.  I hope you’ll excuse me for being late.  This is worth waiting for.

Meet Pamela Warwick.  You may know her from the West Franklin Ramblings in theHampton Chronicle.  But she is more than just a columnist.  She and her husband Tom have seven children between them, and four grandchildren.  They live in Coulter and Pamela is also a local artist working with art glass mosaics, painting, sketching, collage work and fusing together the unexpected.   Pamela often works with spiritual ideas and developing art around that creative/spiritual process.  “In a day and age where mounting tides shift seemingly untouchable foundations around us, it is imperative that we find spiritual grounding. By connecting to the creativity available to us all we become open to listening to spirit in fresh, new ways. And that relationship to spirit leads us to wholeness,” says Pamela.

You can find her at her website and see more of her work.  The pics here are just a small sampling of the kind of work she does.

Warwick has partnered with Latham Hi-Tech Seeds of Sheffield in the past and taught pumpkin painting classes to all ages.  This spring she is working with North Iowa Area Community College to offer a series of three classes in Hampton, Iowa.  They can be taken separately or as a group.  You don’t need to be an artist to take the courses; in fact, Pamela’s teaching style is for all levels of creative individuals.

Drawing: Profile of Angel Face and Wing

Learn how to draw a profile of an angel face and wing in pencil. This will result in a frame-able 8×10 sketch. A copied print of this image will also become part of your collage if you attend all three sessions with Pamela: Art on a Whim; Drawing: Angel Face and Wing Profile; and Collage on Canvas.

Drawing profile of angel face and wing is quite specific of what they shall draw as opposed to having a how to draw class. There are entire art departments given to this topic so this is very specific to my class and I will be providing easy to follow, detailed instructions.

Art on a Whim:

Create your own painted whimsical scribble-art 6×6 canvas. Each person will draw a scribble design; paint and learn shading with acrylics; and embellish with pencil and written phrases to complete this fun ‘no-fail’ project. Come make this small project to take home, sit on your desk or give to a friend! A copied print of this image will also become part of your collage if you attend all three sessions.

If taken as a trilogy, copies of the work created within the first two classes will be incorporated into a collage made on an 11 x 14 inch canvas.

For more information or to register, please call NIACC at 641-422-4358.  Here is an opportunity to learn some fun ways to create art from a local artist!

I plan on taking all three classes, and will share the process with words and pictures.  I’ve been really wanting to create a collage – and can hardly wait!
